UPDATED: Star Wars: Knights Of Ren Actor Claims Cut Of Rise Of Skywalker He Saw Had VERY Different Ending

UPDATE: Upon further research — including an apparent change on IMDb — it looks like Bautista’s claims of working on the film may have been exaggerated or fabricated. When I’d originally looked, he was listed as a stunt person, but now…no such name. Seems very possible the dude is lying.

ORIGINAL STORY:

Stories an interesting thing. When consumed, it’s often impossible for us to imagine them to play out any differently from how we first experienced them. However, if you’ve ever tried telling a story from scratch, you know that pretty much every step along the way, the tale could have gone off in a different direction. This is especially true for films, which are comprised of so many different pieces that any one of them could impact the end product at any point.

That being said, it’s still hard to think that a film as big as Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker could have once had a cut that ended differently than what we saw in theaters. This is exactly what one actor, Juan Bautista, who portrayed a member of the Knights of Ren, said. Take a look at what he has to say.

So, according to Bautista, he saw a cut of the film where, after Rey dies, Kylo Ren does not save her using his life force. Instead, she stays dead and he takes on the name of Skywalker.

Damn.

That’s all I can say. Damn. That would have been one hell of a risky way to take the story, and you can certainly understand why they opted to go in a different direction with it. A lot of fans would have been upset at Rey’s death, but I almost would have appreciated the cojones on Disney if they’d done that.
