With the final chapter in what is known as The Skywalker Saga set to be released in December, what does the future hold for the franchise? As far as we know The Last Jedi director Rian Johnson is set to make his own trilogy as well as the Game of Thrones showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss.
Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy recently intereviwed with Entertainment Weekly and gave fans an idea of some of the possibilities that lie ahead for the Star Wars franchise, she was specifically asked about exploring different time periods. You can check out what she had to say below.
“Yes, absolutely. I think that that’s absolutely on the horizon. We’re looking at whether we can move massively in one direction of the other. It’s still Star Wars, and holding on to the DNA of what George created is still very important to us. I think this is a huge opportunity to step into the galaxy in a little bit different part of the timeline.”

A galaxy far, far away has no shortage of stories within it, I just hope that they don’t forget about the core of the franchise (at least to me) which is the Jedi. I know some folks are tired and bored of them but I for one, am not. With the two upcoming television shows focusing on stories unrelated tot he lightside Force users, I hope that future shows will follow Jedi, or even the Sith, as we haven’t really had a detailed look at that side of things.
Where do you hope the franchise will go next? Let us know in the comments down below!
