Star Wars: Obi-Wan Show Still In Development Says Showrunner

Remember when there was suddenly a big rumor that the Star Wars: Obi-Wan show was being cancelled? LRM at the time were telling fans not to panic as our source explained it was just script delays. Eventually this news started to come to the big trades and suddenly the panic stations were over. However we never heard any kind of official confirmation, unsurprisingly to be fair. Well, now we do have official confirmation.

Obi-Wan showrunner Deborah Chow was speaking at the recent virtual ATX Festival in the pre-recorded The Mandalorian panel. Deborah Chow of course, was a director on The Mandalorian Season 1. Chow reacted to Taki Waititi’s joked that he’s “all finished” with his recently announced Star Wars movie, Chow said of Obi-Wan in reply, “We have a little more to do than that, but we’re in development.

We all knew Obi-Wan was still moving ahead, even if it was currently being rewritten. However, this is the first official confirmation we have had that Obi-Wan is definitley coming. I’ve said all along that I will happily see this Obi-Wan show delayed, and delayed again until they get a good script. This might be the last chance we have to see Ewan McGregor playing Obi-Wan. I feel like most Star Wars fans feel McGregor was doing his best in the prequels despite the scripts being so poor. I don’t think I’m alone in wanting something a little special for McGregor to prove he really can play Kenobi effectively.

Star Wars: Obi-Wan show

We know almost nothing about what Obi-Wan might be doing in his Star Wars show, other than vague unsubstantiated rumors. If you want to know what I’d like to see, you can check out my wants and wishes for the Star Wars: Obi-Wan show Here. Suffice to say, I want a focus on drama over action from this show. I feel like exploring Obi-Wan state of mind is as important as whatever plot he is involved in. As for when me might see Obi-Wan’s show hit Disney+, well your guess is as good as mine?
