Right now, the future of the Star Wars franchise seems to be up in the air. While Star Wars: The Last Jedi was a financial success, it seems to have polarized many fans thanks to its plot revelations and general treatment of legacy characters. Solo: A Star Wars Story failed to crack $400 million at the worldwide box-office, leading to the first money-losing Star Wars film to date.

With this in mind, Lucasfilm seems to have made some adjustments on their slate going forward. While there have been denials about them dropping anthology films altogether, it looks like there may be at least one or a few changes that have been made. Speaking with CinemaBlend, production designer Neil Lamont, one production that was canned had to do with a film that was at least partially set on Tatooine:

“We were just starting our work on another Star Wars spin-off and yeah. We were actually just making our mark on Tatooine — which would have been interesting and some other new galaxies. So hopefully, if that comes back, we’ll get the chance to be able to do that further.”

Sadly, there were no details as to what this project would be, but it’s hard not to shake off the feeling that it could have been the long-awaited Obi-Wan spin-off film that would give us an idea of what the hermit Jedi did while watching over Luke on the sand desert planet.
