Star Wars: The Acolyte filming begins in the U.K. That’s the current Barside Buzz about the upcoming Disney+ show from showrunner Leslye Headland. The information comes from Bespin Bulletin who say their sources have confirmed shooting began last week in the new Shinfield Studios in Berkshire, England. Here is what the outlet had to say.
According to multiple sources of mine, I am able to exclusively reveal that the upcoming live-action Star Wars series, The Acolyte, was filming earlier this week at Shinfield Studios, Berkshire and that the production was utilising the large outdoor set located behind Shinfield Studios which looks to be a town or marketplace of some kind. Additionally onlookers have informed me that they saw multiple actors being ushered in and out of trailers including the series lead, Amandla Stenberg (Bodies Bodies Bodies).
We knew filming was all but set, but it’s always good these days to see a Star Wars project go under camera. The recent months have seen various cast members announced after that of lead Stenberg. We’ve also had quite a few leaks which have now been shut down. However evidence was that these were legit. Whilst I won’t get into any of those leaks and stopped reading them myself, we do have a rough summary of what to expect. Stenberg is tipped to be playing a young Force Sensitive person who is deemed too old for Jedi training. However her younger sister is not. Where the Jedi may have rejected her, it seems like the Sith are recruiting Acolytes.

All we know officially about The Acolyte is it’s set around 100 years prior to The Phantom Menace. There are rumors that Palpatine’s former master Darth Plagueis will be involved in some way. The time period above would certainly rule him in to the mix. However those rumors are unconfirmed for now.
The series is led by Amandla Stenberg with Lee Jung-Jae (Squid Game), Jodie Turner Smith (White Noise), Manny Jacinto (The Good Place) and Charlie Barnett (Russian Doll) making up the rest of the announced cast.
The Acolyte is expected to film in the U.K. until around May of next year. A likely release date on Disney+ is not till 2024.
