The First Star Wars: The High Republic Novel Will Introduce A Wookiee Jedi With A Name You’ll Never Forget

Have you heard of this new Star Wars thing, The High Republic? It’s all the rage with all the cool Star Wars fans so if you have no idea what I’m talking about, better read up and get in on the conversation. Set 200 years before the prequel films, the Jedi will face a new enemy called the Nihil. Today the news broke that the first novel in new series, The Light of the Jed will introduce fans to the first Wookiee Jedi, who goes by the totally kickass name of Burryaga Agaburry.

Yep, the name’s Agaburry. Burryaga Agaburry. Other than his name, information on the character is scarce, and to be honest, we don’t really know how to spell it yet. This reveal came during a press event for The High Republic where one of our reporters was in attendance.

I would rather he not be an ancestor of Chewbacca, but even if that’s true, be ready for some fans to refer to him as ‘prequel chewy, you know it’s going to happen. As I’ve previously mentioned, the Jedi and the Sith have always taken the top spot over the actual battle in the stars between the warring factions of the Rebellion and the Empire, so I am all for this, the focus, the era, and who doesn’t love a good Wookiee?

The High Republic sounds awesome, I just wish this was a new television series coming to Disney+. Yeah, I’m a TV guy, books are awesome, and I very much appreciate them for the stories that get properly transferred to either the big or small screen, it’s just difficult to find the time to read.
