Star Wars: The Last Jedi – Supreme Leader Snoke and Kylo Ren’s Starship Rumors

Information about Star Wars: The Last Jedi is starting to filter through as we near the inevitable trailer release which is expected to drop sooner rather than later, likely even at this coming Friday’s Star Wars Celebration, which our own Michael Connally is attending to bring you guys the news as it happens.

Making Star Wars has some more rumors today, this time about supreme leader Snoke. If you don’t want to be spoiled, now’s the time to look away.

SPOILER ALERT!

The outlet reports that Snoke will spend most of the movie on the First Order’s new “Mega Destroyer.” This ship is reportedly much bigger than the Super Star Destroyer seen in the original trilogy. The new ship nicknamed by the production crew as ‘the 100 acre wood’ has 10 stacked engines at the rear and is massive, only dwarved so far in the saga by the Death Star and Starkiller base from The Force Awakens, this ship seems to be Snoke’s mobile command ship in The Last Jedi.

There are also reports of several scenes shot in Snoke’s throne room. Whether this room is within the mega destroyer itself is not known, but that seems likely. In this throne room, Snoke has several guards which seem to act very much like the Emperor’s Royal Guards from previous movies. Despite being in red robes, it is said they look very different and seem to wield several hand-to-hand combat weapons, including staffs, nunchucks, and swords. It is not known whether these guards have any connection to the infamous Knights of Ren who were mentioned in the previous film.

We know from this report that Kylo will arrive on Ahch-To (where The Force Awakens ends) looking for Luke and Rey. He brings with him several characters who we assumed to be the Knights of Ren. Could there be some connection between these guys and the guards of supreme leader Snoke? The outlet also reports they have heard that unlike the Imperial Guards, these guys will have some sort of action sequence in the movie.

We also have a description of Snoke’s costume from The Last Jedi. Unlike The Emperor before him, Snoke seems to be wearing a more regal gold silky outfit with red trimming, and has an oversized ring on his finger with a black stone set in it. Does this change in his costume add further fuel to the fire that Snoke is not actually a Sith Lord?

Finally a description of Kylo Ren’s new starfighter, which appears to have wings shaped very much like his Grandfather Darth Vader’s advanced TIE fighter from A New Hope or the TIE interceptor wings from Return of the Jedi, but with a pill-shaped body and engines that look very much like the engines from the Millennium Falcon. You’ll have to put that together in your imagination until we see some photo’s or footage from the movie.

All in all interesting information when added to the other rumors we have reported recently.
I suppose my only worry at this point is that it could be too similar to Empire Strikes Back in terms of plot progression. That being said, I’m hopeful this will be a very different movie in its final form.

What do you think of these rumors? Does this give you any insight into Snoke and who/what he really is?

Star Wars: The Last Jedi hits theaters on December 15, 2017.
