Empire has unveiled the covers for their Star Wars: The Last Jedi issues. Giving fans two choices, and as you may have guessed, they are split into the light side and the dark side. The dark side edition, of course, has Kylo Ren, holding his trademark lightsaber, looking very determined.
The other cover features our heroine Rey, positioned in a fighting stance, holding the blue-bladed lightsaber of Jedi Master, Luke Skywalker. The issues also come with unique art cards, again featuring Rey and Kylo Ren.

Both of these art cards, along with the covers themselves, are pushing Rey is light, and Kylo is dark. While the trailers have sort of went back and forth on this subject, teasing us all the while, prepare for Disney to play if safe and keep with the setup that is most familiar.
Of course, this could all be for the purpose of shocking fans when sitting in theaters. It could be an elaborate ruse, or what Admiral Ackbar likes to refer to as a trap, misdirection will make any twist hit much harder. While I would like to see Rey and Kylo switch sides of the Force, I just don’t see Disney going in that direction.
The issues will be available for purchase this Thursday, November 30.
Star Wars: The Last Jedi opens in theaters December 15.
