The Mandalorian Season 2 wrapped filming this weekend. The first season was quite the hit and fans are looking forward to seeing what happens to El Mando and ‘The Child’ next. Season 1 of The Mandalorian saw several different directors for the episodes. Deborah Chow was the only director to have more than one episode in fact.
As yet we don’t know who is directing ALL episodes for The Mandalorian Season 2. There have been rumors, some seemingly unfounded like that of James Mangold. Fans suspect that Taiki Waititi will once again direct an episode of Season 2. Peyton Reed may also be directing in Season 2 as per the article in related section below. Officially, we know that showrunner Jon Favreau will be directing an episode this season along with Carl Weathers. Weathers of course, appeared in front of camera a lot in Season 1 and is expected to be back in Season 2.

Now, we know for sure that EP Dave Filoni is directing one episode at least again this year. Cinematographer Baz Iodine shared this shooting wrap post in Instagram and it lists Dave Filoni as director, check it out.
Now, some fans (and outlets) have already begun speculating that this means Filoni is directing the Season 2 finale. Actually, there’s no indication of that yet. There is literally no way to tell from this what episode Dave Filoni is directing. It could be the finale, but who knows? I doubt they filmed The Mandalorian in running order.
The confirmed directors we have for The Mandalorian Season 2 are Dave Filoni, Carl Weathers, and Jon Favreau. We can guess that Taiki Waititi and Peyton Reed could be included in that list of directors also. If that’s true, it probably leaves us three director names we do not know about yet. We only have rumors to look at for the remaining helmers. Which directors are involved is a detail I’m sure will come out soon enough.
