Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga Post-Mortem And Viewing Order | Last Call Podcast

Welcome back to the Last Call Podcast where we’ve been covering all of the Star Wars films in chronological order. Kyle and Cam finish up their series with a sort of post-mortem on the Skywalker Saga, discussing each trilogy and its effects on the nine-part story.

Almost a year ago we started this journey together, and now it is coming to an end… maybe! The Skywalker Saga is no finished (for the movies at least) now that The Rise of Skywalker has been released. The nine-part story, made up of three separate trilogies, has been incredibly divisive since the 1997 Special Edition re-releases. Fans have been torn by changes made to the Original Trilogy in that and other releases on home video, left disappointed by the Prequel Trilogy’s lackluster story and acting, and literally split in half by the Sequel Trilogy’s The Last Jedi. With all that in mind, let’s take one more look at the galaxy far, far away…  May the Force be with you!

Hosts’ and Guests’ Preferred Viewing Order

Kyle, Cam, and the others have discussed which films they will watch in the future and what order they would be in. Check out everyone’s preferred Skywalker Saga viewing order!

Kyle:

I was Disappointed by the PT and feel the ST is such a mess that I can’t see myself watching either one again… at least not without monetary compensation.

A New Hope, The Empire Strikes Back, Return of the Jedi

Cam:

The prequels are just badly made movies with characters I cannot care for. The sequels are well made movies with characters I cannot care for and a plot that makes no sense. I’m out, the OT is the only Star Wars I’ll be watching for the moment.

A New Hope, The Empire Strikes Back, Return of the Jedi

Jammer:

No need for the PT.

A New Hope, The Empire Strikes Back, Return of the Jedi, The Force Awakens, The Last Jedi, The Rise of Skywalker

Brian:

My take on the machete order.

A New Hope, The Empire Strikes Back, Attack of the Clones, Revenge of the Sith, Return of the Jedi, The Force Awakens, The Last Jedi, The Rise of Skywalker.

Fox:

Machete with a twist and an open ending.

A New Hope, The Empire Strikes Back, The Phantom Menace, Attack of the Clones, Revenge of the Sith, Return of the Jedi, The Force Awakens, The Last Jedi

Nick:

I desparately want to include non-Skywalker Saga films but I relent to the Last Call overlords.

A New Hope, The Empire Strikes Back, Return of the Jedi
