Well, this just came out of nowhere. We’ve known for awhile that Star Wars would be featured heavily on the small screen. We are anxiously awaiting The Mandalorian and I am certainly curious about the Cassian Andor show. This past week saw a lot of rumors about possible TV/streaming shows from the galaxy far, far away. Check out our takes here, here, and in this week’s The Cantina. Now we know that a third show is actually in the works and will be shot in the United Kingdom.
Fantha Tracks is reporting that the new show is being produced under the production title of Series III Productions (UK) Limited. This is similar to the production names, different from the code names we hear like Blue Moon, or TrIXie, from other movies in the Disney era. You can see a list at the source provided.
That’s not all though. Disney also registered E&E Industries (UK) Limited the same day and the outlet believes that may be the first film in Rian Johnson’s trilogy. However it could just as easily be the first movie from the Game of Thrones guys. The site also reminds us that Disney tends to make these registrations ahead of actual physical production.
I believe, as do many others, that we will get some announcements about the future of Star Wars at Celebration in April. However I think Disney may be cautious and save the movie news, or at least specifics like release dates, until they see reactions to Episode IX.
