Lucasfilm has officially unveiled the first trailer and key art for Star Wars: Visions Presents – The Ninth Jedi, the first long-form series to expand on one of the most beloved stories from Star Wars: Visions.
The eight-episode limited anime series will premiere exclusively on Disney+ and Hulu on August 5, 2026.
The trailer and key art were revealed during a special panel at Anime Expo 2026 held at the Los Angeles Convention Center, where supervising director Kenji Kamiyama, director Shunsuke Tada, and producer Hitoshi Ito introduced fans to the next chapter of the acclaimed animated story.
Rather than serving as a standalone anthology episode, The Ninth Jedi launches a new Star Wars: Visions Presents banner, a format designed to continue select Visions stories in serialized form. The new series follows the events of the fan-favorite shorts The Ninth Jedi and The Ninth Jedi: Child of Hope, allowing audiences to spend more time with its characters and expanding its corner of the Star Wars galaxy.

The story once again centers on Lah Kara, who continues her Jedi training under the guidance of Margrave Juro. As Kara grows stronger in the Force, she joins Juro and a small group of Jedi apprentices on a dangerous mission to rescue her father, sending the young heroes on an adventure filled with discovery, sacrifice, and the continuing struggle between light and darkness.
Shunsuke Tada directs the series from scripts by Mitsuyasu Sakai, while Kenji Kamiyama returns as supervising director. The production is animated by acclaimed Japanese studio Production I.G, continuing the visual style that helped make the original The Ninth Jedi one of the standout installments of Star Wars: Visions.
Several members of the English-language cast reprise their roles from the original animated shorts, including Kimiko Glenn as Lah Kara, Andrew Kishino as Juro, Masi Oka as Ethan, Patrick Seitz as Homen, JP Karliak as Gramps, Simu Liu as Lah Zhima, and Neil Kaplan as the Narrator.
Joining the cast are Feodor Chin as Gennoh, Young Mazino as Nawaam, Chase Sui Wonders as Tafflah, and Keone Young as Kwana.

The original Japanese voice cast also returns, with Chinatsu Akasaki reprising the role of Lah Kara alongside Tetsuo Kanao, Hiromu Mineta, Hinata Tadokoro, Cho, Shinichiro Miki, and Akio Otsuka as the Narrator.
Executive producers for the series include James Waugh, Jacqui Lopez, Josh Rimes, Justin Leach, and Mitsuhisa Ishikawa. Hitoshi Ito and Kanako Shirasaki serve as producers, with Caroline Keller as co-producer.
