Starfield Video Teases What To Expect From Bethesda’s First Big Xbox Exclusive

Starfield, Forza Motorsport and Clockwork Revolution trailers. All three were the Xbox showcase highlights from yesterday's streaming event.

A new Starfield video has been released. Though I know many fans want to see actual gameplay footage, sadly we are not here yet. Starfield isn’t due to be released until November next year and such this video probably has more shots of Skyrim than it does anything from Starfield. However the point is the developers discussing their goals and ambitions when making a game and why Starfield is where they chose to go.

So far Bethesda are famous for allowing players to develop their own stories in a fantasy world and a post-apocalyptical world. Starfield is about exploring what is out there beyond. The video features Bethesda director Todd Howard as he talks about what the studio’s goals have been when creating Starfield. Alongside Bethesda Game Studios art director Matt Carofano and studio director Angela Browder. Check it out.

Some of the concept art does look nice and the little we do see, which isn’t new, teases great potential. However potential is something every game has. Realization of that potential is sadly where many games fail.

I’ve never been a massive fan of Bethesda’s go anywhere and do anything in any order type of RPG’s. I guess I’m not a massive RPG fan overall, but the fans that do love those games have a place in their heart for many of Bethesda’s most famous games.

Of course some of those fans were fans who played Bethesda games on PlayStation and for those players Starfield is a bit of a sore point. With Microsoft’s purchase of Bethesda it means future games from Bethesda and their parent company are likely to only appear on Xbox or PC. Hey, I love Spider-Man, but if I want to play Spider-Man’s most recent games I need to get a PlayStation. That’s the price we pay for competition I guess?

I must admit, perhaps it’s the sci-fi setting and grounded feel, but I think I will be checking out Starfield when it hits next year.

What do you think of this latest Starfield video? Leave any thoughts below as always.
