At the turn of the new year, fantasy author Brandon Sanderson got in touch with fans and allowed them to follow along as he finished the first draft of The Stormlight Archive 4, which is tentatively titled The Rhythm of War. In finishing it, he pretty much solidified that late 2020 release date for the 400,000-word-plus novel, with many fans wondering what the future holds for our Knights Radiant.
Now, fans have noticed that the official Audible page for the novel has an interesting feature — a synopsis! While it isn’t much to go off of, it’s very clear the story will continue to be epic in scope, as evidenced by the consistently long books we’ve been getting.
Below is the official synopsis for The Stormlight Archive 4:
“After forming a coalition of human resistance against the enemy invasion, Dalinar Kholin and his Knights Radiant have spent a year fighting a protracted, brutal war. Neither side has gained an advantage. Now, as new technological discoveries begin to change the face of the war, the enemy prepares a bold and dangerous operation. The arms race that follows will challenge the very core of the Radiant ideals and potentially reveal the secrets of the ancient tower that was once the heart of their strength.”
I’m currently in the middle of reading Oathbringer right now, and I tell you what, this thing really makes me want to hurry up and kick it into high gear so that I’m good and ready for when this story hits.
