Given how prominent Eggo waffles are featured in the Netflix original series Stranger Things, and how popular said series has become since its launch, it’s no surprise that Eggo would actually see at least a minor bump in sales. Like the show itself, Eggos seem to harken back to many childhoods, myself included. I can’t count the number of Saturday mornings I’d wake up at 6 a.m., pop a couple of frozen Eggo waffles into the toaster, and sit down to watch cartoons. The same audience looking for nostalgia through the show is likely to go all in.
Prior to Stranger Things‘ debut, Eggo sales had been declining, but the food product saw a surge after the first season aired. The second season, which hit the streaming service this past Halloween, helped to again boost the sales of Eggos, but given that was over seven months ago, these sales are beginning to fade — a predictable consequence.

It’s very clear that those sales are directly related to the release of each season of the show, and even with that, I can only expect there to be some diminishing returns with later seasons. Even yours truly, who does occasionally crave a waffle while watching the show, hasn’t actually made the effort to go out and buy them.
In keeping with the American trend nowadays that is skewing away from sugary breakfast food, I often turn to more healthy options — and not even a TV show can put me off!
