Stranger Things Star Joins R.L. Stine Adaptation

Nice to see that the Stranger Things kids are getting work in-genre. Millie Bobby Brown is set to light up the big screen in the monster feature Godzilla: King of the Monsters, and Finn Wolfhard already joined the decently-scary IT adaptation, which saw him going up against the terrifying Pennywise the Clown. Now, one of the other show’s stars, Sadie Sink (who plays Max in the Netflix series) is hopping on board another horror-themed film.

Deadline is reporting that Sink will be starring in the second Fear Street film, which is based on the novel series of the same name from Goosebumps author R.L. Stine. Sink will be joining a cast that includes Kiana Madeira, Olivia Welch, Benjamin Flores Jr., Ashley Zukerman, Fred Hechinger, Julia Rehwald, and Jeremy Ford. Filming has already begun on the first film in the planned trilogy, and it’s unclear when production will begin on the second.

Set to direct all three movies in the trilogy is Leigh Janiak, who is best known for directing a couple episodes of Scream: The TV Series. The original Fear Street series started in 1989 and has since gone on to sell over 80 million copies worldwide. It follows a group of teens facing off against paranormal adversaries.

It’s pretty cool they’re already casting for the second film, as it proves the studio has enough for them to start jumping into it right away. So I expect this to be along the lines of something like Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame, where these movies are at least shot back-to-back.
