Stuart Townsend Talks Emotional Love Story in Grace and Grit [Exclusive Interview]

Grace and Grit - Stuart Townsend with Mena Suvari

Philosopher Ken Wilber faced his greatest challenge with his romantic wife Treya as she battled for five years over cancer. With her fight for survival in this true story, Wilber tries to keep his marriage and life together as he watches her slowly leaves him with the illness. Stuart Townsend, who plays Ken Wilber, sees Grace and Grit as a must tell story on screen that observes the romantic struggles through these complicated challenges.

The film also stars Mena Suvari as Treya. The rest of the cast includes Frances Fisher, Mariel Hemingway, Rebekah Graf, Nick Stahl, and Brian McGovern. Sebastian Siegal directed the wrote the movie.

Here’s the synopsis:

Grace and Grit tells the true story of iconic philosopher Ken Wilber (Townsend) and his wife Treya (Suvari). Based on the acclaimed book chronicling Treya’s journals, they fall madly in love in the 1980s California and are immediately faced with challenges that tear them apart. They overcome by discovering connection beyond this world and love beyond life.

LRM Online’s Gig Patta talked with actor Stuart Townsend on his portrayal as Ken Wilber on the film. We discussed Mina Suvari, the remarkable true story, and shaving his head for the role.

Stuart Townsend is a film, television, and stage actor. He starred as Jack McAllister in ABC’s Betrayal. Other television credits included XIII, Night Stalker, Will and Grace, Salem, and Elementary. On the film side, he starred opposite to Ryan Reynolds and Emily Mortimer in Chaos Theory. He played the lead in the romantic comedy Unhitched opposite to Seth Green and Amy Smart. In 2007, he made his directorial debut with the drama Battle in Seattle. Other notable films he had roles in included The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen as Dorian Gray and Queen of the Damned as Lestat.

Grace and Grit is in select theaters, on digital and On Demand this Friday, June 4.
