The Suicide Squad seem to be one of the most versatile teams in DC. Whether its movies, television, comics, and at some point video games, Amanda Waller’s Task Force X team seems to be ready to entertain. Now they cross over to the world of anime.

This week at Anime Expo 2023, a trailer for “Suicide Squad ISEKAI” was released. Its a new anime series starring Harley Quinn and the Joker from Warner Bros. Japan and WIT Studio. The characters design are from Akira Amano. Check out the trailer below.

Isekai translates to “otherworld” or “another world” and it is composed of a character being put into an unfamiliar world. Think of classics like “Alice in Wonderland”, “The Wizard of Oz”, and “The Chronicles of Narnia” to name a few. All the protagonists in these stories had to adapt to the new worlds and learn how to survive.

That is no different in “Suicide Squad ISEKAI”. As we can see in the brief trailer that was released, we first see Harley in her familiar domain of the city with the Joker. Soon after she is in some kind of unfamiliar landscape with flying island, dragons, and armored knights. It will be interesting to see what kind of story develops with an unpredictable character like Harley.

The series is being directed by Eri Osada. Based on a screenplay by Tappei Nagatsuki and Eiji Umehara. Character designs are by Naoto Hosoda with character desin drafts by Akira Amano. The music is by Kenichiro Suehiro. Animation production is by Wit Studio and produced by Warner Bros. Japan.
