The Sun Valley Film Festival in Idaho announced it will honor actress Annette Bening and filmmaker David O. Russell as this year’s Vision Award recipients on Friday, March 1.
The film festival celebrates with a slate of film and television premieres at the original ski Shangri-la from February 28 through March 3.
The SVFF Vision Awards provides tributes to the industry icons with their past contributions and experiences that changed for the better. There will be a dinner event that night followed with Coffee Talks to discuss their career achievements.
Now in its thirteenth year, the festival hosted many celebrities in the past, including Josh Brolin, Geena Davis, Clint Eastwood, Gal Gadot, Woody Harrison, Ethan Hawke, Gwyneth Paltrow, Amy Poehler, Meg Ryan, and Oliver Stone.
“With such beloved films as Silver Linings Playbook, American Hustle, and The Fighter, David O. Russell has earned a place among America’s most imaginative filmmakers. With her memorable performances in such diverse projects as Bugsy, 20th Century Woman, and most recently Nyad, Annette Bening continues to build a spectacular career. We’re proud to honor both with Vision Awards this year,” stated SVFF founder Teddy Grennan and SVFF director Candice Pate in a joint statement.

Also during the festival, Russell will participate in a screening and Q&A for his ten-time Oscar-nominated crime drama American Hustle on Saturday, March 2. In advance of the festival, SVFF hosts the 2012 comedy romance Silver Linings Playbook at the Argyros Theatre on February 1st. Bening will participate in a special screening of the 2023 short Ten Thousand Mile Bridge on February 29.
