Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Fans Are NOT Happy With Latest Character Reveal

Every fandom has just a little bit of entitlement in them. We see that on the internet on a daily basis. Gamers are especially opinionated on all matters, as they often have very specific things they want to play in a game. This is the case with Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, a game that’s been revealing new characters over the course of the past year-plus. With every reveal, there is either massive hype or disappointment. With this latest reveal being the last one in the current Fighter Pass DLC, there were a lot of emotions riding on it.

As was revealed by Super Smash Bros. Ultimate director Masahiro Sakurai, both male and female versions of Byleth from Fire Emblem: Three Houses were revealed as that final character. As you can see from the like-to-dislike ratio, many aren’t too happy about it.

Without a doubt, Fire Emblem: Three Houses was a pretty big hit on the Nintendo Switch last year, but it does seem like there are two schools of thought there. The first is that we already have half a million Fire Emblem characters in the game, so why have more? The second is that if we were to get a character from that game, then Edelgard should have been the one.

All of this is accentuated by the fact that this is the last new character we’ll be getting for a good while. The next batch of characters will require another Fighter Pass purchase from gamers, and if you know gamers, you know they hate spending money.

On the plus side, Sakurai did also reveal some unique Mii Fighter costumes that act as nods to Assassin’s Creed, Rabbids, Mega Man, and Cuphead among others.
