Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is less than a month away from its release onto the Nintendo Switch, and anticipation is undoubtedly high. The game has already had a couple of Nintendo Directs completely dedicated to character reveals and gaming mechanic explanations from its creator Masahiro Sakurai. As such, it feels like we know more about this game than pretty much any other that’s been released before it.
Thanks to their various presentations, we have hard figures on the number of stages, musical tracks, game modes, Spirits, etc. we’ll be getting in the game. As of this writing, there are 74 characters, with another five or so DLC characters on the way (though I have a sneaking suspicion there will be more you can unlock once the game is released, but that may be wishful thinking).

Many hardcore fans are already sold on the game, but of course, as the game heads towards its eventual release, you know we’ll be getting more trailers. This next one is the coolest they’ve had yet, in my opinion. We start out with a guy looking at the ever-famous-and-expanding mural of video game characters painted onto a square arch, and from there, we zoom into Mario’s eye, which transitions into a crazy huge and dynamic fight going on across several stages.
It ends with an Inkling Girl aiming her squirt gun at us before we zoom into her eye, where the Super Smash Bros. logo is shown. Pretty epic stuff, Nintendo.
