Superman: Legacy Officially Has Its Lead Actors In David Corenswet And Rachel Brosnahan

Years ago, before Man Of Steel, Matthew Vaughn pitched a Superman trilogy to WB. Read on for details on that trilogy.

DC Studios officially has their Superman and Lois Lane.

After a long search and rumors flying around faster than a speeding bullet, we learned that David Corenswet and Rachel Brosnahan will star in the first DC Studios film under James Gunn and Peter Safran, “Superman: Legacy”.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Corenswet and Brosnahan were two of six actors being looked at for the lead roles. They say the others that were screen-tested were Nicholas Hoult, Tom Brittney for Clark Kent Superman, and Emma Mackey and Phoebe Dynevor for the iconic Lois Lane.

Accepting these role is a huge undertaking. They come with the enormous pressure of an overly critical audience that as of late is quicker to sentence a project as a failure rather than see it through. As well as the pressure of a studio that seems to be striking out with audiences with its last three films including “Black Adam”, “Shazam! Fury of the Gods”, and most recently “The Flash”.

“Superman: Legacy” will launch the promised new DC Universe that will crossover from films, television, animation, and video games. It is currently slated for a July 11, 2025 release date. With our stars now in place we now wait and see who will fill other roles like Lex Luthor or members of the Authority.

With so many superhero films it’s hard to believe that only three actors have played the role of Clark Kent aka Superman on the big screen. The names include Christopher Reeves, Brandon Routh, and Henry Cavill (no Nicolas Cage doesn’t count). Compare that to the number of actors that have played the Dark Knight over the years.

But before we get to the beginning of the new DC Universe, there are two films left from the previous regime. Next up in August will be “Blue Beetle”. Whose title character is said to have a future in Gunn’s plans. Then “Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom”, which given the reception “The Flash” had no one is holding their breath for a winter success for the “Aquaman” sequel, given how people feel about Amber Heard.
