Supernatural – This Goodbye Video From Jared Padalecki Is Likely To Leave Fans Teary-Eyed

The CW‘s long-running hit Supernatural is in the home stretch after 15 seasons. Jared Padalecki has played Sam Winchester on the CW‘s long-running hit Supernatural for the better part of two decades. For years, he and co-star Jensen Ackles carried the CW on their backs. Soon the wayward sons, Sam and Dean Winchester will soon stop carrying on as only a handful of episodes are left to air.

Padalecki posted an emotional video with a heartfelt message to his Facebook. Not only mentioning Supernatural, but he also addressed the year 2020 and how, hmm, unusual it’s been. I’ve included the video below, but in case you’re somewhere that playing a video would go against social etiquette, I’ve also provided quotes.

“To put it mildly, this year has been difficult. All around us, we’re bombarded by confusion and strife. From a global pandemic and natural disasters, to political drama and the loss of what we had all considered ‘normalcy.’ Amidst all of that, I’ve tried to keep my focus on my own mental health, and remind myself that it is up to ME how I confront the issues in my world. Saying goodbye to a character and show that means so much to me was (and still is) truly difficult.”

“The desire to figure out who I would be in the world ‘after’ was trying,” the actor added. “That’s why I always remind myself that I will define me. Just like YOU DEFINE YOU! Not the jobs you’ve had or will have, not comments online (good and bad) from people who don’t know you, not even that brutal inner voice that sometimes rears its ugly head. You alone have the power to figure out who you want to be and how to work for it. So, go ahead. DEFINE YOU.”

Except for, well, right now, I’ve been current with the show since Season 3. And for the most part I have watched the show as it aired. Sure, occasionally I would fall behind and had a few small binges, which were pretty awesome actually. Though I am glad I started watching the series in its earlier seasons. Because Supernatural from start to finish is an endurance binge. And it’s totally worth it. Excluding sitcoms, it’s one of the few shows I watch on network television.

I have no idea how the show will end. If put in charge of the finale I would of course deliver one of the best series finales of all-time while pleasing 99% of fans. However, one issue I see right away is too many options, as well as ending a show for characters who have both died throughout the run of the show. There’s a chance that is what will happen. I will be happy with most anything they deem worthy to properly send off the series. One thing I don’t want to see is Sam and Dean drive off in Baby on their way to the next hunt.

Jared Padalecki is set to star in a reboot of Walker, Texas Ranger. While the actor that plays his onscreen sibling, Jensen Ackles will play a paradox of Captain America in Season 3 of Amazon Prime‘s The Boys.
