Netflix is like a damn dragon or troll, guarding their hordes of ratings treasure and only giving us bits and pieces whenever it suits them. While we do our best to estimate just how each show they put out does in terms of ratings through third-party services, their validity can never be truly tested. Regardless, I’m fairly confident most people out there assumed that, if there was a series that would do well, it’s Stranger Things 3.
But in case you were unsure of just how good it would do, Netflix is here to set you straight and let you know how its golden goose is faring. The streaming service took to Twitter to tout some numbers. Here’s what they had to say:
“[email protected]_Things 3 is breaking Netflix records!
40.7 million household accounts have been watching the show since its July 4 global launch — more than any other film or series in its first four days. And 18.2 million have already finished the entire season.”

Clearly, these are great numbers, otherwise, Netflix wouldn’t share them, but it is difficult to gauge, considering how guarded they are about their figures. Either way, it sounds like a Season 4 renewal is imminent — though, will it be the last? The Duffer Brothers have always indicated that a four-to-five-season arc was always a part of the plan, so that’s certainly not off the table.
