Swamp Thing Trailer Makes Show Look Like A Frightening Creature Feature

While I do occasionally become overwhelmed by the volume of superhero content we get on a weekly basis these days, I can’t deny one thing: the superhero genre is diverse as hell. Of course, older movies like Blade proved long ago that they can’t all be relegated to one genre, but with the proliferation of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, those waters have been tested more frequently, with movies like Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Guardians of the Galaxy.

However, if there is one genre that I don’t believe has been tackled yet in the superhero space enough, it’s horror. Hell, it’s one of the reasons I was so excited for The New Mutants when that first trailer hate all those many moons ago. But with that movie being delayed until kingdom come, I thought I may have to hold off a bit longer. But maybe not anymore?

When James Wan signed on to executive produce the Swamp Thing series at DC Universe, it became clear what direction they’d head in with this bad boy. With the release of the latest trailer, we know they really are headed into the world of horror, which I can get behind, as it’s something that hasn’t really been done in superhero shows of the modern era.
