The saying “don’t judge a book by its cover” should also apply to movie posters and even trailers. That is the case with the newly released horror comedy film, Beast Mode. This film is directed by Chris W. Freeman and Spain Willingham. It stars C. Thomas Howell, Leslie Easterbrook, and James Duval.
It tells the story of a has-been Hollywood producer. He is under pressure to produce a film but he has a problem. He has accidentally run over his lead star. In a desperate move, he turns to an ancient elixir, hoping that this will save his career. But thanks to this cream he now must come face to face with something worse than Hollywood executives. His dark deal ends up unleashing bloodthirsty, shape-shifting, ferocious beasts on LA.

What I love about Beast Mode is that you can tell they had a good time making it. Along with that it actually has a deep message. The cream that turns people into beasts only does so if the person is evil. So the question is, in a place like Hollywood, are there any good people left? Sure many people arrive with the best intentions, but over time sometimes concessions must be made in order to move ahead. It is also interesting how the cream works. When it’s applied, it makes you look young again. But come midnight, if your evil you turn into a hideous beast.
