Tales Of Dunk and Egg Reportedly In Development At HBO

According to Variety, another Game of Thrones spin-off is in development at HBO. This news should please the majority of fans as the spin-off will be based on George R.R. Martin’s Tales Of Dunk and Egg. Set nearly a century before the events of A Song of Ice and Fire, the series would be based on the novellas and cover the adventures of Ser Duncan the Tall also known as Dunk, and a young Aegon V Targaryen, better known as Egg.

There have been three entries into the Tales of Dunk and Egg” beginning with The Hedge Knight, which was published in 1998. The series continued in 2003 with The Sworn Sword, and in 2010 The Mystery Knight. The three installments were published together in 2015 as A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms. Which was the name of the second episode of Game of Thrones‘ eighth and final season.

This is excellent news. I have heard nothing but good things about Tales of Dunk and Egg from my book-reading friends.  And just as I prefer the upcoming House of the Dragon over the very first, but now defunct prequel, Bloodmoon, I would choose Dunk and Egg over it as well. I absolutely would have watched Bloodmoon, but I wasn’t a huge fan of the setting and felt it would be too disconnected from the Ice and Fire world that we know.
