The “big boss” role comes to play in The Completely Made-Up Adventures of Dick Turpin thanks to the charming Tamsin Greig. Like in any story there is the dominating character and Greig brings it on with a touch of humor and politeness.
The Synopsis
In “The Completely Made-Up Adventures of Dick Turpin,” Dick Turpin (Noel Fielding, “A Mighty Boosh”) sets out on a journey of wildly absurd escapades when he’s made the reluctant leader of a band of outlaws — and tasked with outwitting corrupt lawman and self-appointed thief-taker Jonathan Wilde (Hugh Bonneville, “Paddington”). In this irreverent retelling set in the 18th century, Turpin is the most famous but least likely of highway robbers, whose success is defined mostly by his charm, showmanship and great hair. Together with his gang of lovable rogues, Turpin rides the highs and lows of his new endeavors, including a brush with celebrity, all whilst trying to escape the clutches of the thief-taker.
Tamsin Greig was born in Maidstone, Kent, England. She attended University of Birmingham for her degree in Drama and Theater. Unlike most, her career started on radio, with her role as “Debbie Alridge” in The Archers on BBC Radio, later narrating Warhorses of Letters and guest appearances in the second season of Absolute Power.
Television followed by playing supporting roles like in Neverwhere, People Like Us until her main role came as “Fran Katzenjammer” in Black Books with Dylan Moran and Bill Bailey. A project that Greig is known for till today and others like the two year run of Green Wing, Shaun of the Dead and Tamara Drewe. Currently she can be heard on the Podcast Series, The Archers and seen in the latest Paramount+ series, Sexy Beast.
I was connected with Tamsin Greig during the press day for The Completely Made-Up Adventures of Dick Turpin last month. We discussed the laugh “Lady Helen Gwinear” is entertaining us with and how she created her. In addition to a reveal in the series, the importance of politeness and more!
