Taskmaster’s Identity Revealed By Black Widow Actor? SPOILERS!!

Tasmaster's identity

It goes without saying, but if this information is correct then we now know Taskmaster’s identity in Black Widow. Therefore beware of potential SPOILERS for Black Widow in the article below!!

***SPOILERS***

Taskmaster's Identity

Yesterday saw the release of the final trailer for Black Widow, the latest offering from the MCU, and the first movie of Phase 4. The trailer highlighted that Taskmaster appears to be the big villain of Black Widow and the main antagonist. At the bottom of this news story, I will add a few images showing some of the most important information from the latest trailer that has fans talking. However, there is one conversation going on now which could definitely be called a SPOILER.

RELATED: Damn, The Final Black Widow Trailer Is Awesome, But It’s Still Mildly Concerning

Actor O-T Fagbenle took to social media to promote the new Black Widow trailer and his #TM has everyone convinced this means the actor is the man behind Taskmaster’s Identity. Check it out courtesy of MCU Direct.

Now, whilst this is not a smoking gun, we have to say this pretty much checks out. Fagbenle was on the poster, he was also on stage at Comic-Con, and yet his face has not been seen anywhere in the trailers. Most in the industry had Fagbenle tipped as playing the character behind Taskmaster’s identity anyway. This could be more confirmation of the fact. Though many fans had guessed that Rachel Weisz character could really be Taskmaster, the trailer confirms this is not the case though.

Now, this might not be much of a spoiler or it could be huge. If Taskmaster’s identity is never an issue in the movie, then it doesn’t matter much. However, if Taskmaster’s identity is one of the key components of the story (perhaps seen without mask), then this could be quite the SPOILER, thus the tags above.

I guess it won’t be long now till we find out, but I have to say for my own money, this seems pretty likely to me. In the meantime let’s check out some of the other big reveals form the latest Black Widow trailer.

Taskmaster Watched Iron Man 2

Taskmaster's identity

This section of the trailer is probably the one I’ve seen talked about the most so far. Clearly given Taskmaster’s comic origins, the villain is watching Black Widow to learn her fighting style. In the comics Taskmaster was able to copy anyone’s fighting style after watching them, (aside from Deadpool, who even he couldn’t fathom.)

So it looks like Black Widow will have to contend with someone who knows her fighting style intimately. One would assume Taskmaster learns or already knows much about some of the other players in this movie. Clearly Red Guardian and Taskmaster are going to have at least one or two fights in Black Widow. The image above shows Red Gaurdian fighting on a plane that’s going down, and using his shield, in a very similar fashion to how Taskmaster is seen using his.

Iron Maiden

No, not the Metal band, but a hint at the comic character of Iron Maiden. Here, you can see the comic-accurate mask clearly belonging to Melina Vostokoff played by Rachel Weisz. It seems as though Vostokoff is playing on team Widow along with Red Guardian in the movie. Some fans are still predicting her comic alias means she will end up a villain. Is it possible that Melina could be the real power behind Taskmaster and playing both sides? Black Widow and Iron Maiden were firm enemies in the comics, but we know Marvel Studios likes to mix things up a bit.

Yelena cut open?

It looks like Yelena is on an operating table here and about to have her head cut open. For what purpose, is unknown? But there has been speculation that the Super Soldier Serum could play a factor in this movie. It seems like the Russian’s managed to get this Serum considering we have both Red Guardian and the Winter Soldier, aka Bucky. Could Yelena hold the key somehow to Taskmaster getting his hands on more of the Super Soldier serum? That’s pure speculation on my part I admit.

I do wonder how much the Super Soldier serum will play a part going forward now that Cap is gone. I suspect this could be followed up in Falcon and the Winter Soldier. The upcoming show is set several years after Black Widow, which we know is set before Infinity War.

What do you think of the latest Black Widow trailer? Do you agree that Fagbenle seems to be playing Taskmaster? Leave your thoughts in the usual spot below.
