The story of WeWork is a fascinating meteoric rise and crash of a multi-billion-dollar company. The center figures of this commercial real estate company lie with its founder Adam Neumann and his wife Rebekah Neumann. Apple TV+ brings the story of this failed IPO fiasco starring Jared Leto and Anne Hathaway in the limited series WeCrash.
The eight-part limited series is based on the hit podcast of WeCrashed: The Rise and Fall of WeWork. Its focus is on the inspiration of actual events and the love story of the married couple.
WeCrash is set to premiere on March 18 on the Apple TV+ streaming service.
Here is the synopsis:
The series is inspired by actual events—and the love story at the center of it all. WeWork grew from a single co-working space into a global brand worth $47 billion in under a decade. Then, in less than a year, its value plummeted. What happened?
Lee Eisenberg and Drew Crevello served as the creators, executive producers, and co-showrunners of the series. Jared Leto and Anne Hathaway star as Adam Neumann and Rebekah Neumann respectively. Also, they served as executive producers on the limited series.

Jared Leto and Anne Hathaway addressed portraying the real-life couple to the press at the Television Critics Association this week that LRM Online attended.
“I was unfamiliar with the story when it came to me. I became very interested in this idea of the mentality that people have that doesn’t let them see the world that other people see,” stated Hathaway on the WeWork story. “As we got deeper into it and realized the depth of the love story, that’s when it went to a new place for me.”
As for portraying Rebekah Neumann, she said, “We aspired to do with this was to present a story as fairly as possible and do not assume the worst of people and to explain that just because people do think that we might disagree with doesn’t make them bad. I thought it was very important to get the full picture of who she is because, at the end of the day, I’m just playing a human being.”
Leto recalled the story of WeWork’s rise to be a multi-billion dollar enterprise.
“I was familiar with WeWork. I have been to some WeWorks before and I thought, wow, this is a gorgeous company. The product was amazing, the spaces were incredible. I remember friends of mine that were up-and-coming filmmakers and artists using WeWork as a product and being really happy with it. This is kind of a huge success story. The fact that it was valued so high and all of a sudden were confronted with these enormous challenges,” stated Leto.
As for the love story aspect to this mini-series, showrunner Drew Crevello chimed in, “It was this very epic rise and fall story, right? This meteoric ascent, this equally spectacular and kind of historic fall, played out very publicly. But really, what was fascinating to us was there was a relationship, like a love story, at its heart.”
WeCrashed premieres on AppleTV+ on March 18.
