Just as promised today Warner Bros. Pictures released the trailer for their upcoming summer animated feature film Teen Titans Go! To The Movies. Scheduled to be released July 27th of this year, the film will be directed by Aaron Horvath and Peter Rida Michail. It will star voice actors Kristen Bell, Will Arnett, Tara Strong, Khary Payton and Greg Cipes.

One thing is clear if your a fan of Teen Titans Go! on Cartoon Network, this films seems to offer more of the same comedy that you see regularly on television. The trailer starts with the leader of the Titans, Robin, claiming that having your own movie makes you a “real superhero”. Then the assembled Titans go on to pay homage to Wonder Woman, but all wearing Wonder Woman costumes because like Cyborg says they are “just giving the people what they want”. This is followed by Beast Boy telling Robin that “no one wants to see us”.

But then the trailer hits a wall when during a battle with a balloon man, they go into a fart joke that last about 15 seconds. The trailer does end on a high note as the narrator says, “because it Aquaman can get a movie, anyone can”.

I understand that this film is primarily targeting the already established fan base for Teen Titans Go!, but I feel that including that long fart joke really did the film a disservice. It had great jokes in the beginning and end especially the Aquaman one. With as much deserved criticism as the DCEU has taken, this could be a fun way to poke at the successes and failures of the DCEU. But they had to mess up what was looking like a good trailer with a long fart joke.

What do you think of the trailer? Let us know in the comments below!

I think it’s a helpful way to say that if you can’t sit through a 17-second fart joke, this isn’t the movie for you.

I like the show, but I’ve never seen one so criticized for what it isn’t. I assume the movie will go the same way.
