When we found out that Ryan Coogler would not be returning to direct the sequel to the surprisingly impactful Creed, we were a bit worried. After all, he brought in a whole lot of nuance and kinetic energy into the dormant Rocky franchise, and we were nervous to see it already go the way of Rocky V this early on in its life.
But Steven Caple Jr. was a worthy man to take on the job, and while the film wasn’t quite as well received as the first film, it is still a resounding success, but at a box office level and a fan and critical level. So what could be next for this dude? At a recent Q&A, Caple was asked whether or not he’d be doing a Creed III or if he’d follow in Coogler’s footsteps by jumping into a Marvel movie instead.
Apparently, actress Tessa Thompson — who worked with Caple on Creed II — replied with “Direct the Valkyrie movie.”

Of course, Marvel fans know that Valkyrie is a character Thompson played in the recent Thor: Ragnarok film. In that movie, she was the sole survivor of the warriors who attempted to take down Hela many years ago. She ended up surviving the events of the film, and if we’re to believe the Russo brothers, she also survived Thanos’ attack, so a standalone film isn’t out of the question.
But what do you think of Caple taking on the movie? Let us know your thoughts down below!
