Well this clears things up. Eric Weber recently tweeted that the head of LucasFilm, Kathleen Kennedy, has confirmed that there will be NO BOBA FETT MOVIE!
Kathleen Kennedy just confirmed to me Boba Fett movie is 100% dead, 100% focusing on THE MANDALORIAN #StarWars

This comes months after it was announced that James Manigold was set to direct the Fett film, and a few months since it was announced the anthology Star Wars movies were put on hold. That latter piece of information came after the poor performance of Solo: A Star Wars Story this year. I would also wager that the behind the scenes messes of both Solo and Rogue One had a hand in that decision.
If you ask me, this is a bullet dodged. Boba Fett is a character that had nothing other than looks going for him. Does that mean fans of the character are shallow? I’M KIDDING! But seriously, I could not think of a single story about Fett I would want to hear. And trust me when I say, I LOVE STAR WARS! I love the Expanded Universe! I read plenty of stories with Boba Fett and the most enjoyable came when he saved the Solos and had a moment with Han where he told him that he was “just a job.” To me, that summed the character up so well. He was a bounty hunter, a hired hand, and nothing more.
I knew for certain Disney would try to build a long-lasting rivalry between Han Solo and Boba Fett if they gave him his own movie. I could feel that disturbance in the Force. I was actually surprised that Fett didn’t make an appearance in Solo to set up a sequel showdown after his own movie. Thankfully I was wrong. I am hopeful for what they are doing with The Mandalorian though.

Look, if you like Boba Fett, that’s great! We’re all entitled to our individual tastes, but you have to admit the clean character slate we’re getting with The Mandalorian TV show is awesome. We have an opportunity to not be bound by ANY previous books, comics, movies, or shows. This is part of what makes the upcoming show so exciting.
So what do you think of this news? Did you really want a Boba Fett film, and if so what story would you want told? Let us know in the comments below.
