The latest rumor to hit over the weekend is that The Acolyte has a director in sights. The folks over at MSW are hearing a rumor that Kate Herron is high on the wanted list of Lucasfilm. Herron recently directed Season 1 of Loki, but we know she didn’t return to direct Season 2.
The MSW site does insist this is merely a rumor they have heard, albeit from two different sources. Here is what they had to say.
“Two different sources, one UK based and one in SoCal mentioned that Kate Herron is supposedly involved (or approached at least). Herron executive produced and directed Marvel’s Loki to critical acclaim. On paper she sounds like a good fit to direct show-runner Leslye Headland’s Star Wars series.”
“I think the rumor has a lot going for it, personally. But until I know for a fact Herron is directing one or more episodes, and it was more than being approached, I’m treating this as a rumor with legs, for now.”

Remember at this point we have no idea whether The Acolyte will have one director for the whole of it’s opening Season, like Herron did for Loki, or Deborah Chow for Obi-Wan Kenobi. Or, alternatively, whether The Acolyte will have multiple directors like the model we have seen on Mando and BoBF.
This is an intriguing rumor for now, and one to keep an eye on. However we may not get any confirmed directors for The Acolyte until closer to filming later this year. Or, they could spill the beans with an announcement at any point? It’s always hard tp predict what Lucasfilm will do in that regard.
As a final thought I’ll say this. For me, Loki was the best Marvel Disney+ show thus far. So If Herron is involved with The Acolyte, then it gets a thumbs up from me.
What do you think of this rumor that The Acolyte has a director in sights. Do you think Kate Herron would be a good choice if this pans out? As always, leave any thoughts below or over on Discord.
