According to a new rumor, The Acolyte to film in Rannoch Moor, Scotland for part of the location shoot for the show later this year. The information comes from @nuruodo who is one half of the team that’s been leaking details recently for the show. I had heard previously that an area in the far North of Scotland (my home) would be used for filming. Now we may have a specific location, Rannoch Moor.

I’ve only ever seen the location in images. That’s because Rannoch Moor is a wilderness, basically uninhabited and left alone. Rannoch Moor is in the extreme North West of Scotland, well away from any population centers. It seems like a great place to film in visually, though I do wonder how tricky it will be with so little facilities and infrastructure around.
The rumor is that this will serve as the environment for the lead character’s home world in The Acolyte. That lead character, currently code-named Aurra will supposedly begin her journey on a remote world where her people are under extreme threat from a native aggressive species. Therefore it may be that the shoot at Rannoch Moor is not planned to last for very long?
Of course, like all Barside Buzz stories we can’t say if it’s is fact or fiction for now. These leakers seem to be legit, but until some official information hits it’s hard to gauge for certain.

What I think we can say for certain is that the show will shoot in the U.K.. We cannot say whether The Acolyte will utilize The Volume or not as there is a Volume studio at Pinewood now. However, it appears there will also be location shooting. Therefore, don’t expect another purely Volume show like we got with The Book of Boba Fett or the majority of Obi-Wan Kenobi.
Once shooting does kick off we should at least be able to confirm this location as being true or not. You know, because they’ll be there. That may then give us some more wood for the fire in terms of the validity of these leaks overall?
