The Angry Black Girl and Her Monster Trailer Re-imagines Frankenstein Story in Modern Urban Setting

The Angry Black Girl and Her Monster

Mary Shelly’s Frankenstein has terrified people for the past 200 years of a monster haunting its creator after re-animating him from the dead. The Angry Black Girl and Her Monster, it’s a modern re-telling in an urban setting with a young girl reviving her dead brother from the dead.

And just like in the Mary Shelly tale, the monster constantly haunts this young scientist.

The film stars Laya De Leon Hayes, Denzel Whitaker, Chad L. Coleman, Reilly Brooke Stith, and Keith Holliday. Bomani J. Story directed and wrote the film.

Here is the official synopsis:

Vicaria is a brilliant teenager who believes death is a disease that can be cured. After the brutal and sudden murder of her brother, she embarks on a dangerous journey to bring him back to life. Inspired by Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein, The Angry Black Girl and Her Monster thematically challenges our ideas of life and death. Bomani J. Story, the film’s writer, and director, crafts a thrilling tale about a family that, despite the terrors of systemic pressure, will survive and be reborn again.
