There are many things you can’t go without in a Batman film. You have the suit, the angst, and the Batmobile. Okay, there are probably a lot more essentials to make the character works, but let’s focus on the Batmobile, okay? Ever since we got our first look at Robert Pattinson’s take on The Batman, fans have been wondering what we could expect from the Batmobile. Given this more grounded world we’re dealing with, could we expect a more grounded vehicle for the Caped Crusader to bust crime in?

We got our first taste of what to expect from his vehicle when we saw the Batcycle. Unlike previous takes, this one was very grounded and practical. It lacked the cartoony nature of some versions and the high-tech version of Christopher Nolan’s. In many ways, it felt like a beefy version of a pretty standard bike. As it turns out, that would be a harbinger of what to expect from the Batmobile.

Director Matt Reeves took to Twitter to show off the Batmobile, and, well, let’s just take a look.

I’m no car expert, but this looks to be heavily influenced by American muscle cars. It very much resembles a sort of “classical” look of a car, but with the added sleek one could only expect from a billionaire like Bruce Wayne. Look at the trunk of that thing! Look at that engine! 

Oh, yeah, and also, LOOK AT THE BATMAN! In the first image, we get a pretty solid look of Pattinson as the Caped Crusader. The second image is near-o-face-inducing with his cape in motion and his silhouette perfectly captured. Finally, that third photo shows even more of the incredibly-utilitarian nature of both the Batmobile and the Batsuit.

I have to say, I really am digging the grounded, practical, and almost “scrapey” feel of this world. I honestly don’t quite know what I mean by “scrapey” but it feels like the right word to use for this whole thing.
