The Batman: Jonah Hill Originally Wanted More Than Twice Robert Pattinson’s Pay

Yesterday brought with it a couple of interesting bits of casting news. Jeffrey Wright is reportedly in negotiations to play Commissioner Gordon, and Jonah Hill is being eyed for an unknown role in the same movie, with the Riddler and Penguin being listed as potentials. If you’re a fan of Batman, chances are this did something to move the interest meter for you.

Now, however, we have a small update regarding Hill’s potential involvement. This comes courtesy of Variety reporter Justin Kroll. The situation regarding Hill hasn’t developed, but it’s more information surrounding his potential involvement. Here’s what Kroll said on Twitter.

“So on the Jonah front, hes [sic] had the offer for over a month and besides money being a bargaining point (at one point heard he wanted 10 which is wild since Rob isn’t making half that) but also which character he would play, whether its [sic] the Riddler or Penguin”

Translated into non-tweet-speak, it sounds like money is a sticking point, and that Hill and director Matt Reeves are still deciding which role he would take on. Given this news and the initial $10 million payday Hill wanted, we can infer that either role would be a substantial one, which falls in line with previous rumors.

But how ‘bout that potential payday, eh? Does Jonah Hill command enough of an audience to justify getting more than twice what Pattinson is getting? While it sounds like that deal is off the table, it does also sound like he’ll ultimately be getting as much as, if not more than Pattinson if he takes it on.

What do you think? Is Jonah Hill too recognizable to take on a role like that? Let us know down below!
