Getting a first glimpse at a Batman is like Christmas. I remember the months leading up to Ben Affleck’s beefy Batman suit, and in the era of Christian Bale, I relished in the more realistic take. But how would Robert Pattinson look? He was an unexpected choice to be sure, but with Matt Reeves at the helm, I had faith we’d get something pretty cool-looking. But what exactly would it look like?
Well, ask no more! Matt Reeves has taken to social media to give audiences their first peek at the Caped Crusader. But it’s not just a simple photo. No, he released a video camera test, complete with music. In fact, it’s not too different from how Todd Phillips first teased the character of Joker back in 2018.
Anyway, enough out of me. Take a look at the video for yourself.
The video itself is compelling as all hell. The first several seconds are in almost complete darkness. We see the out-of-focus visage of Pattinson walk into frame, the high-tech-looking bat logo coming into view. Already, we can see some resemblances to the suit from Arkham Knight. It’s different from anything we’ve seen in live-action. It’s kind of a mix between the practical nature of the Dark Knight suit — but with an extra dose of metallic added in.
The bat logo seems like it could very well come off and be used as a batarang, and the way the shoulder plate moves makes him feel almost robotic. As far as the cowl goes…Battinson fills it well. That being said, I did certainly get some Daredevil vibes from this look, but I guess that could have just been the red tint.
