The Batman, The Matrix 4 Moving Forward With Their Production

With the COVID-19 disease striking down productions all over the place, it seems as if no project out there is safe. In fact, as it stands, Netflix has shut down all of its film and TV work in the U.S. and Canada, Disney has halted 16 pilots, and goodness knows how many studios have pushed their films to later release dates. These are unpredictable times, and yet, as of this writing, Warner Bros. has made a surprise move with projects like The Batman, The Matrix 4 and more!

According to the folks over at /Film, they are still moving forward with those two productions and other movies, including King Richard, and Fantastic Beasts 3. There is no word on why these productions are different from their 70 TV shows they canceled, I can only hope they have effectively assessed the situation. Perhaps, in the case of The Batman, it has to do with Britain not really seeming to do much of anything regarding the coronavirus, but I really couldn’t say.

Regardless, it does seem like Warner Bros. is taking the whole situation seriously. It’s especially evident in their pushing of dozens of TV productions. On the heels of that announcement, they made the following statement.

“With the rapidly changing events related to COVID-19, and out of an abundance of caution, Warner Bros. Television Group is halting production on some of our 70-plus series and pilots currently filming or about to begin. There have been no confirmed cases of COVID-19 on any of our productions, but the health and safety of our employees, casts and crews remains our top priority. During this time, we will continue to follow the guidance of the Centers for Disease Control as well as local officials and public health professionals in each city where our productions are based.”

Regardless, it is refreshing to be able to report on projects like The Batman still going on. It’s few and far between that we’ve had good production news over the past couple of weeks. Here’s hoping that everyone stays healthy!
