As has been evident in our coverage for the past couple of weeks, the COVID-19 is basically taking over everything. It’s affecting our lives, our movies, our toilet paper, and our streaming habits. As we learned last week, the Matt Damon film Contagion rose from out of nowhere to a top 10 spot among the most streamed films. This was based on the 2M users from Reelgood, a service that brings all your streaming content into one place.

Now, we have an update on that whole deal. This past week spanning March 5 to March 11, Contagion was catapulted to the number one spot of the most streamed film of the week. It beat out The Dark Knight and The Shawshank Redemption for the title. This information is pulled from virtually every streaming service and digital purchasing option under the sun, so it’s quite extensive.

Also, one unrelated thing I think is hilarious is that Love is Blind is the number one streaming TV show out there right now across all platforms. This is a show that I know anecdotally a lot of friends have been watching, and it goes to show just how far trash reality TV show can go.

Remember way back in the late-2000s when reality TV seemed to be pushing out scripted TV? Now, we’re understanding why once again. Netflix has been pushing in the reality TV genre for a bit now, but this show seems to be hitting an all-new level of popularity. I suppose we should take solace in the fact that it’s the only series of its kind on the list, but I’m sure a lot of copycats will be on the way.
