Say what you will about Warner Bros.’ attempts at making a shared universe with the DC Extended Universe (or Worlds of DC, or whatever the hell you want to call it), but they’ve somehow managed to create one of the more low-key successful universes out there in the form of The Conjuring.
The universe of films now consists of The Conjuring, Annabelle, and the recently-released The Nun (with The Crooked Man on the way). In fact, even with The Nun disappointing both critics and audiences alike, it still managed to have the most successful opening of any film in the franchise to date — and well above how most horror films perform.

So, of course, the obvious big question to follow is…when’s the next one coming out? Speaking with CinemaBlend, producer Peter Safran gave an update on The Conjuring 3, saying:
“It’s actually coming along great. David Lindsay Johnson is working on the screenplay, and I feel pretty confident they will have that one up and running next year.”
Will The Conjuring 3 come out before the already in-development The Crooked Man? We’ll have to wait and see. But given that The Nun didn’t do so well critically, it wouldn’t be terrible of them to re-center the franchise with a solid performer like The Conjuring.
