Harry Potter

The rumors of a “Harry Potter” television series have been confirmed today. This came via an announcement from Warner Bros. Discovery as they revealed their new streaming service Max. They say it will be a faithful adaptation of the beloved book series that so many fans adore around the world by J.K. Rowling. She also serves as an executive producer on the series.

According to Warner Bros. Discovery, the plan is for the stories from the “Harry Potter” books to become a decade-long series. It will feature a new cast that will lead a new generation of fans. They will be creating a world filled with fantastic detail, beloved characters, and dramatic locations that fans of the series have read and seen on film for over 25 years.

They continue to say that each season will be authentic to the original books. Also that the now classic and beloved films will remain at the core of the franchise and available to watch globally.

“We are delighted to give audiences the opportunity to discover Hogwarts in a whole new way,” said Casey Bloys, Chairman and CEO, HBO & Max Content. “Harry Potter is a cultural phenomenon and it is clear there is such an enduring love and thirst for the Wizarding World. In partnership with Warner Bros. Television and J.K. Rowling, this new Max Original series will dive deep into each of the iconic books that fans have continued to enjoy for all of these years.”

“Max’s commitment to preserving the integrity of my books is important to me. I’m looking forward to being part of this new adaptation which will allow for a degree of depth and detail only afforded by a long-form television series,” said J.K. Rowling.

HBO Max becomes Max on May 23.
