The Flash Movie Was Supposed To Start Pre-Production In April

With the success of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, I remember being so excited to see Warner Bros. do the same with their characters. Unfortunately, that didn’t go so well with films not being well received by critics and fans. As of late, their more recent films have done better as they are worrying less about continuity. The Suicide Squad is getting a makeover, we have a new Batman, and the question of Henry Cavill’s Superman is still up in the air. This year, we are getting a Wonder Woman sequel and a new Aquaman film is in the works. But what about the Flash?

We have seen Ezra Miller’s Barry Allen aka The Flash several times in the DCEU. First in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Suicide Squad and Justice League. We were even treated to his appearance in the Arrowverse’s crossover event Crisis on Infinite Earths. Also, to the delight of many fans, the long-awaited Flash film seemingly has a director and a release date.

Over the weekend via Screen Rant we have learned that The Flash was actually supposed to start pre-production late in April. In an interview with the outlet, stunt coordinator Eunice Huthart opened up about her next project

“The project I was due to start is The Flash,” she said. “I was supposed to start at about the end of April, beginning of May. I’m not sure what’s happening now with that.”

With the current pandemic that has overtaken our nation and the world, it’s unknown if they are going to be able to start on time. But this is not the only bump in the road that The Flash has faced. Several directors were brought in or rumored to helm the film, but none lasted long. At one point, Miller himself was rumored to have parted ways with the character. For now it seems like everything is in order.

I wouldn’t be surprised if The Flash moves back again. As of right now, Hollywood is at a complete standstill. I am not holding my breath though as I’ve seen this project suffer over and over again. Are you looking forward to a solo Flash film? Let us know in the comment section below!

Currently, Warner Bros. The Flash directed by Andy Muschietti has a release date of July 1st, 2020.
