Over the weekend word came down that Tom Ascheim was put in charge of expanding the still very popular Harry Potter franchise. Today sources told The Hollywood Reporter that there have been multiple conversations with potential writers on a live-action television show based on the Wizarding World.
Things are said to be just getting started on the rumored project and nothing official has been inked. You can read an excerpt from a statement made to THR by HBO Max and Warner Bros.
“There are no Harry Potter series in development at the studio or on the streaming platform,”

That’s exactly what someone would say if they were developing a Harry Potter series and didn’t want us to know!
While I love the franchise, other famous ones rank higher on my list. However, I have to admit that the Harry Potter films kept a more consistent level of quality throughout their films than pretty much any of the other big-name franchises. Personally, I hope this grain of salt will turn out to be true. I would be all in on any series based in this universe. They’ve always had my curiosity, and now they may have my attention.
While there will always be some stories better suited to be adapted into a film, it really does seem like everything is moving toward the television. And not only for those who make the content, but for those who watch it as well.
