The recent announcements of the nominees for the Golden Globes, Critic’s Chocie, and Screen Actors Guild awards marks the beginning of award season. Studios have prepared their “for your consideration” videos, billboards, and other promos to get their best work noticed, in hopes of landing the holy grail of award shows: the 92nd annual Academy Awards. Listed below are the frontrunners for eight categories at the Oscars, as well as a few possibilities who may squeak their way in for the top prize.

Nominations for Once Upon A Time… In Hollywood and The Irishman are no surprise, given their directors, actors, and hype that surround both films. Marriage Story, Joker, and Ford V Ferrari carry with him incredibly strong performances by highly talented performers, but may have a tough battle-winning there statue against the stories of 1917 and Parasite, while Uncut Gems and Jojo Rabbit are enjoying a lot of support on social media. Additionally, the recent hit Knives Out and upcoming “talked about” films like Bombshell, Little Women, and Waves could create a shakeup depending on their reception.
