The Future Of Moon Knight – What Comes Next According To Cast And Producers

The Future Of Moon Knight - What Comes Next According To Cast And Producers

Just what is the future of Moon Knight? The show was, I think, a success. I loved and it and so do most fans I’ve discussed the show with. We also have the fact that last minute changes were made behind the scenes in naming the finale a Season Finale and not a Series Finale. So are we getting a Moon Knight Season 2 as logic seems to point towards? According to those involved with the show, they’re waiting to find out more just like us.

The RadioTimes covered some words from the cast on where the future of Moon Knight may go, and whether they’d want to come back?

“And let’s just put everything out on the table on this story. There’s definitely no official plans to continue it. I think it would depend on what the story is,” said star Oscar Issac.

“That being said, I love being Steven,” he said. “I just love it. It’s just like, physically, it’s so much fun to be him. So, you know, if there was a story that really made sense, I’d be happy to be part of it.”

And Isaac’s castmates echoed his sentiments, with both Ethan Hawke and May Calamawy (who play Arthur Harrow and Layla El-Faouly respectively) noting the lack of any concrete plans but not ruling out a return regardless.

“I’ve not heard anything,” Calamawy said. “So if there [are plans], I’m yet to hear. If there were, I would, yeah, I’d consider returning. Of course.”

Hawke added: “Do you want to play the same character for long periods of time? Most actors don’t. But if you’re making audiences happy, your opinion changes.”

Meanwhile Deadline caught up with Moon Knight‘s director and EP Mohamed Diab, as well as EP Grant Curtis.

We don’t know if there’s a next season,” Diab told Deadline.

“Marvel doesn’t go with a conventional way, so even if they like the character and want to extend the world, it could be season 2, it could be a standalone film, or he can join another superhero’s journey,” added the director of the season one finale.

“I’m kept in the dark, just like the fans,” Diab added.

“We never discussed it being a season 2, but one day there’s going to be an expansion, but I don’t know how it’s going to look like,” he continued.

Moon Knight EP Grant Curtis echoed Diab on season 2.

“Where Moon Knight lands in MCU after this, I actually don’t know,” said Curtis, “As a fan, I want to know, because Oscar created such an engaging, emotional performance that people want to see more of the Steven-Marc-Jake story.”

I think it’s safe to say, the future of Moon Knight is bright after such a strong debut. Everyone involved seems very keen to continue this story. However, ultimately it seems that the Marvel Parliament including president Kevin Feige hasn’t told them what happens next, yet. Perhaps Feige’s team were awaiting  audience and critical reaction before making a decision? Either way, I’d be shocked if we don’t get more of Moon Knight in the MCU. For me, Moon Knight Season 2 makes most sense, but I’ll take something else if that’s the way the cookie crumbles.
