The Kang Dynasty Writer Not Yet Sure If He’ll Get To Use Fantastic Four Or Blade

Avengers: The Kang Dynasty writer Jeff Loveness is not yet sure if he'll get to use the Fantastic Four or Blade

Avengers: The Kang Dynasty writer Jeff Loveness is not yet sure if he’ll get to use the Fantastic Four or Blade. Loveness who also wrote Ant-Man and the Wasp: Qunatumania is penning the next big Avengers film. We already know who the antagonist will be, but what will the hero line up be? There are so many MCU characters now that they cannot all show up for any meaningful screen time.

One person you’d think would know that answer is Loveness. However, the writer indicates he still isn’t clear on which characters he can, and will use. For example he references both Fantastic Four and Blade. Both being movies that will introduce a new set of characters and should arrive before The Kang Dynasty. Here’s what Loveness said when he spoke to i09 recently, and as far as he knows he’s not even using those guys.

“Yeah, it’s definitely a tricky thing. But much like when I took on this Ant-Man job, I can’t really focus on that outside stuff. I have just got to lay down the bones of a good story, hopefully, and find the characters that I want to tell [it]. And then it becomes a game of ping pong with the other people. Like whoever comes on and does Fantastic Four or Blade or—I’m probably not even using those characters, you know—but it all informs itself.”

“And so, you just keep an ear open if [someone says], “Hey, if Blade wants to jump in, go for it, man.” But it’s up to me to focus on my movie and, you know, work with [Michael] Waldron a little bit on his thing [Note: Waldron is writing the following Avengers movie, Secret Wars] to make sure it all kind of makes sense. But I think the second you start looking at the 25 other movies coming out, you get a little lost in the sauce.”

Given that Fantastic Four comes out just before The Kang Dynasty (currently) I think I did, do, have expectations that the movie will lead into Avengers. I guess the Fantastic Four could show up in Secret Wars instead? However I kinda do hope to see the team in The Kang Dynasty even if not a major role. Of course without further details on how the movie will work, we can’t really have too many expectations this far out.

As for Blade, I really would not care if we never have the supernatural characters come into Avengers movies. I’d much rather we get ‘Midnight Suns’ team-ups instead. For me the supernatural side and the superhero side don’t always gel completely. I think it should take the right situation to bring both teams together at some point. However only after they get a chance to be on their own. That of course is far from my call, I’m just talking as a fan.

What do you think if his comments as Avengers: The Kang Dynasty writer Jeff Loveness is not yet sure if he’ll get to use the Fantastic Four or Blade? Thoughts below, as always.
