You thought The LEGO Movie ended and that everything was super happy, didn’t you? Emmett had teamed up with Lord Business and ultimately saved the entire brick-laden world. Even more importantly, a father learned that loosening up and letting your kids play with your toys with you was much more conducive to a healthy father-kid relationship. Of course, this is a double-edged sword, and from the looks of that, it’s likely what’s led into this movie.
As you’ll recall, the first film saw Will Ferrell’s younger daughter come in with her own set of horrifyingly disfigured LEGOs, and now, in The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part, it looks like she’s turned this world into a desolate landscape where everything is no longer awesome. But that even that post-apocalyptic world is turned upside down when an alien visits, kidnaps Wyldestyle and the rest, leading Emmett on a journey to save them.
Of course, shenanigans ensue, and between the funny dialogue, continued world-building, and interesting story, this looks like it could be a worthy follow-up, even if it doesn’t manage to live up to the amazing first film.
Below is the official trailer for The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part:
“The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part reunites the heroes of Bricksburg in an all new action-packed adventure to save their beloved city. It’s been five years since everything was awesome and the citizens are facing a huge new threat: LEGO DUPLO® invaders from outer space, wrecking everything faster than they can rebuild. The battle to defeat them and restore harmony to the LEGO universe will take Emmet, Lucy, Batman and their friends to faraway, unexplored worlds, including a strange galaxy where everything is a musical. It will test their courage, creativity and Master Building skills, and reveal just how special they really are.”
