The Lord of the Rings: Gollum puts you in the halfling’s nonexistent shoes.
It’s been nearly twenty years since audiences saw The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers in theaters. That film fully introduced the character of Gollum. Not only was the character beloved thanks to the source material, but actor Andy Serkis made the halfling his own through the art of performance capture. It was an unparalleled feat fo technology and art, and it’s one that still holds up to this day in the midst of more advanced tech.
But never have audiences ever been able to step inside poor Sméagol’s shoes. Usually, in the Lord of the Rings games, you take on the role of a warrior of sorts. But what if you followed the former ringbearer’s own journey? That’s exactly what you’re getting in The Lord of the Rings: Gollum.

Sadly, there isn’t a whole lot to go off of here. We see Gollum himself crawling around his cave. He then climbs out to see what looks to be the land of Mordor. As far as when this takes place, that’s one big question mark. My guess is that it’ll be prior to the events in The Two Towers — and perhaps in search of the Fellowship.
The game will be a stealth adventure game. This is actually kind of perfect. Given Gollum’s minor physique, I think sneaking behind people before jumping on their backs and biting off their necks is the perfect way to play as him. Personally, this game has my attention.
